1980s – 1900s

The disability community is heavily affected by the global economic recession.1 Because of the economic insecurity in Canada, funding for social services dwindled rapidly.2 Many disability organizations in Canada collaborated in order to create larger organizations with more influence.3 The Council of Canadians with Disabilities (CCD) was one of these, and was founded in 1976.4 5
