The medical field developed substantial improvements in technology to help people with disabilities.1 However, the focus of these improvements was mostly directed to disabled war veterans and injured workers.2 Disability was mostly regarded as a medical impairment, and people believed that the medical field held the answers to provide people with disabilities a better life.3
