The Southern Alberta Council for Retarded Children (renamed Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre of Calgary in 1993) was formed in Calgary. It was founded by two mothers whose children were not admitted into the public school system because of their disabilities.(1) The organization “promotes awareness and supports communities to include persons with developmental disabilities, thereby strengthening communities for all citizens.”(2)
