Skills Society in Edmonton is established in Edmonton as a response to the call for deinstitutionalization in Alberta.1 Skills “supports individuals with disabilities and their families in their right to learn and grow in the community” and aims to “encourage and support individual choice and opportunity”.2 Skills society is one of the largest disability organizations based in Edmonton and is a leader of social innovation, having spearheaded many projects including Project Citizenship and System Design Exchange.3 Debbie Reid is Senior Manager of Community Supports.
