The Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts was founded in Edmonton. It is an art collective made up of individuals with developmental disabilities.1 The centre was named after Nina Haggerty, who contracted polio and was placed in an institution in Alberta.2 After gaining the support of the Skills Society in Edmonton, Nina was able to find her place in her community and discovered her passion for art.3 After her death, SKILLS helped open what it now known as the Nina Haggerty centre in her honour.4 Wendy Hollo is the Executive Director.
